The Kosher Suites are open to MIT students who wish to live in a kosher-observant Jewish suite on campus.
While there is no specific Kashrut standard that is required to be in the kosher suites, students must report that they keep kosher to be placed in the kosher suites.
The Kosher Suites are located in Burton-Conner House on MIT's campus.
In addition to the kosher food available in the Maseeh Dining Hall, the Kosher Suites are equipped with kosher kitchens. Also, there is Kosher Food opportunities many times a week with learning/social activities organized by the various Jewish/Israel clubs on Campus. For Shabbat and Holidays, MIT Hillel and MIT Chabad organize meals for students.
Applications are handled through MIT Housing with an additional application step for the Kosher Suites. There are two required steps to get placed outside of room draw in the kosher suites. The first is filling out the supplemental form with MIT Housing. The second is reaching out to Rabbi Fisher or Rabbi Dinin.
A functional Eruv surrounds part of the Cambridge area, allowing Jewish students to carry on Shabbat. For more information, visit the Cambridge Eruv page.
Every week at MIT, the MIT Hillel Orthodox Rabbi and MIT Chabad Rabbi hold multiple lunch-and-learns and evening shiurim. We also have Thursday night mishmar and Saturday night Learning!
