The Kosher Suites represent a unique residential community designed for Jewish students attending MIT. Located on campus in Burton-Conner House, our facilities provide a fully kosher living environment that enables students to maintain their religious observance while pursuing their academic goals.

Our History

1891

First Recorded Jewish Student

Gerard Swope enrolled at MIT, the first known Jewish student at the Institute.

1914

Menorah Society Founded

MIT's Menorah Society begins with about 10 members, marking organized Jewish student life.

1935

Intercollegiate Menorah Dance

MIT hosted the Intercollegiate Menorah Dance in Walker Memorial.

1945

Menorah Society Affiliation

MIT Menorah Society became affiliated with the Hillel Foundation.

1992

The First Girls Kosher in Burton-Conner

Girls Kosher in BC starts with 3 girls on B5.

1994

The Religious Building Opens

The religious building opens and davening, eating, and other activities moved to there.

2011

Kosher Dining Options

MIT offered kosher options in the dining halls for the first time.
